The first draft
My first draft of Iya… In biro of course, as I have a pathological need to make all my mistakes permanent.
As I’m still building and understanding Iya, I’m seeing it evolve. For instance Merket is now half the size, but I’ve not strayed far from this first sketch I drew over 7 years ago.
Since then I have been using two excellent programs to pull Iya from my head: Wonderdraft and Inkarnate (in case you were interested).
Silna sketch
Silna, the seed of the Emblan Empire.
I based it very loosely on Scotland, because I love Scotland!
Similar to my original world map, I’m surprised to discover that not much has changed between this and my current WIP map below.
Silna wip map
As you can see I haven’t finished naming all the settlements. I suspect I’ll need to add many more locations as I go.
Merket WIP Map
This is the current version of Merket, the country which has hosted The Endless Strife for millennia.
The civilian population live on the edges of the continent, outside the mountain range known as The Iron Ring, an eggcorn of the region’s local name Iyanrin.
As you can see, events so far are concentrated in the northwest of the country.
